Japanese vintage cotton textile.
Two different cotton fabrics are joined, with a dark striped cloth running along one side.
The connection is direct, with the seam held by simple hand stitching.
The surface shows uneven fading and areas of discoloration. Faint pink tones remain across the cloth, possibly from safflower dye.
Safflower, known as beni in Japan, was traditionally used to produce soft pink to red hues, though the color is known to fade over time with light and washing.
The material has thinned through use and feels soft. Edges are partially left raw, with small repairs visible along the seam.
