Japanese Vintage Indigo Cotton Noren

This is a piece of Japanese vintage cloth made with the e-gasuri (pictorial ikat) weaving technique. Both warp and weft threads were resist-dyed to create geometric patterns, showing a beautiful contrast between deep indigo and natural white.

　 When light passes through, the motifs appear softly, revealing the quiet beauty of age and use.

The ramie’s natural transparency gives a gentle presence and works beautifully as a fabric to divide space.
