Japanese vintage cotton Katazome textile
$500.00Price
A Japanese cotton fabric once used as a futon cover, featuring a repeated katazome floral pattern and traces of repeated repair.
Layers of indigo dye and softly faded pigment have deepened in character through long use, creating variation across the surface. Patches of checked and striped cotton, hand stitching, frayed edges, fading, and small holes remain throughout, showing careful and continued mending in everyday life.
The cotton has softened over time, and the texture is remarkably soft while retaining a comfortable weight and flexibility. Originally made as a practical cloth for wrapping futon bedding, it can now also be used as a wall hanging or interior textile.
