A cotton katazome fragment featuring folding fans, pine branches, flowing water, and geometric patterns arranged in a lively composition.

Created using the traditional Japanese katazome technique, the design was formed by applying resist paste through hand-cut paper stencils before dyeing, producing crisp and detailed motifs across the cloth.

The cotton has softened through years of use, while subtle fading and variations in the indigo dye add depth to the pattern. The combination of auspicious motifs and intricate stencil work reflects the enduring appeal of traditional Japanese textile design.
