Vintage Japanese sashiko stitched indigo Boro rug

A large Japanese vintage boro textile made from layers of indigo-dyed cotton and densely reinforced with hand-stitched sashiko.
　
Different shades of indigo and numerous patches create a rich surface shaped by years of use and repair. Several sections retain white resist-dyed Japanese characters, adding a distinctive graphic element to the deep indigo composition.
　
The layers of cotton and extensive sashiko stitching give this piece a substantial weight, making it well suited for use as a rug. It can also be displayed as a large wall hanging.
