Japanese Vintage Katazome Ramie Textile

Vintage ramie textile decorated using Katazome, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique in which patterns are created with stencils and resist paste.

Botanical and geometric motifs spread across the softly faded indigo ground, with touches of muted red adding a gentle accent.

Several narrow panels have been carefully joined together to form one large piece. When hung against the light, the translucent ramie weave and delicate patterns become more visible.

It can be displayed as a textile wall hanging or used as a curtain or room divider, softly separating a space while still allowing light to pass through.
