This kimono was a mainly patchwork of various tenugui cotton fabrics joined together.

Tenugui is a traditional Japanese cloth used for a variety of purposes, such as towel, hachimaki, decoration, or gift wrapping. Tenugui is generally rectangular, 35-40 cm wide and 90-100 cm long, and made of cotton. They were widely distributed as sales promotions for companies.

Sewed these together by hand Sashiko stitching, some holes were also repaired with Sashiko stitching.
