A hand-sewn komebukuro (rice bag) made from two different textiles, featuring an Edo komon pattern on one side and indigo-striped cotton on the reverse.
Komebukuro were traditionally used to carry rice offered to temples and shrines, as well as rice and grains for everyday household use. Their sturdy construction and drawstring closure made them practical containers for daily life.
The bag shows signs of long use, with softened fabric, subtle fading, and traces of wear that reflect its practical purpose. The contrast between the finely patterned komon cloth and the darker indigo fabric creates a distinctive reversible design.
