A cotton katazome fragment featuring repeating floral motifs enclosed within flowing vine-like forms.

The pattern was created using the traditional Japanese katazome technique, in which a resist paste is applied through hand-cut paper stencils before dyeing. The result is a crisp yet organic design that reflects the skill of the artisan.

The cotton has softened through years of use, while subtle fading and variations in the indigo dye enhance the depth of the pattern. Signs of age remain throughout, reflecting the character that develops in cloth over time.
