Japanese Vintage Ramie Noragi Jacket

$160.00Price
Quantity

A handwoven ramie noragi from the Tohoku region of northern Japan, dating to around 80 years ago.

The fabric is woven from hand-spun ramie thread, giving it a dry, airy texture with a soft suppleness developed through long use.

The fine plaid pattern and subtle variations in tone reflect the character of handwoven cloth.

With time, the indigo has faded to a muted, smoky depth.

Light passes gently through the fabric, revealing its open weave and natural irregularities.

Such garments were worn as everyday workwear in rural farming communities.

The structure and material speak quietly of practical use and regional craftsmanship.
