Tsushima-asa, also known as Tsushima Hemp, is a type of fiber derived from the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa) and is traditionally cultivated on Tsushima Island in Japan.
Tsushima-asa has been valued for its durability, strength, and versatility. It is known for producing high-quality textiles that are resistant to wear and tear. The fiber is processed through various stages, including harvesting, retting (soaking to separate the fibers), drying, and spinning, before being woven into fabrics.
