This thick cotton rug was dyed with a Family crest, clane, turtle, pine tree, bamboo, and plum flowers. They are all motifs that represent Japanese good luck and happiness.


There are using a tube-drawing Tsutsugaki technique in old times.


Tsutsudakaki is a Japanese resist-dyeing technique in which a pattern is drawn on the cloth with glue, the fabric is dyed, and the glue is washed off.


This rug was mended and repaired many times with Sashiko stitching. Good Boro condition.
