A large traditional furoshiki wrapping cloth with a bold diagonal design in brown and grey. In one corner, the name “Hirai” is stencil-dyed in white, identifying the owner’s family or shop.
Such furoshiki were used for wrapping and carrying goods, as well as on ceremonial occasions such as weddings and gift exchanges. The wear and small holes show its long history of practical use, while the strong geometric composition and bold lettering give it a strikingly modern appeal.
Today, it can also be enjoyed as a wall-hanging textile, where the graphic design and historical character resonate beautifully in a contemporary interior.
