This is an indigo-dyed thick and soft rug, made of Katazome stencil-dyed textiles and plaid hand-weaved ikat textiles.

Katazome is a Japanese technique of stencil-resist dyeing that involves drawing rice-paste designs on cloth, dyeing the fabric, and then washing off the paste.

All hand sewing and many holes are repaired by sashiko stitching.

They repeated washing and mending in old times, it became very soft and faded.

You can use a rug or hang it as textile art.
