A large Japanese BORO textile made from layered cotton, with more than three fabrics sewn together to create a substantial thickness. Indigo-dyed fragments, checks, and stripes are patched and reinforced with sashiko stitching, giving the piece both durability and beauty.

Because of its layered construction, it can be enjoyed not only as a wall-hanging but also as a functional rug or floor covering. A striking example of Japanese ingenuity in reusing and treasuring cloth.
