This beautiful faded calico textile is called Wasarasa(Japanese calico).
 
Production of Japanese sarasa (calico) began in the Edo period when skillful Japanese dye workers found a method to inspire the designs of Indian calicos. 
 
Sakai-Sarasa is characterized by exotic patterns and dynamic floral designs based on ochre, green, and reddish brown on blue ground.
 
７ pieces of weaving length are carefully sewn together by hand stitching.
