This beautiful kimono textile was made in the mid-20th century in west Japan.

It used to use as underwear which wearing inside of kimono.

Made of Shibori-dyed hand-weaved silk textiles. Shibori is a Japanese manual tie-dyeing technique, which produces a number of different patterns on fabric.

The Asanoha means hemp leaves,  this pattern is often used to wish for children’s healthy growth. Also, this pattern has the meaning of protection from harm or evil spirits.

In the past in Japan, kimonos that had been worn and liked by previous generations were reused and re-tailored into kimonos. These colorful kimonos were also worn by those of high status or those who supported those of high status.

A nice collector's piece.
