This is a katazome indigo-dyed cotton fragment.  The faded colors are very beautiful.


Katazome is a Japanese technique of stencil resist dyeing that involves drawing rice-paste designs on cloth, dyeing the cloth, and then washing off the paste.


This pattern is not easy to find. I think it is probably a wisteria flower.
