This vest is made of indigo-dyed cotton fabric and Sashiko stitched all over it, This Sashiko pattern called Sho-nai Sashiko.
 
Shonai Sashiko is unique in its designs and patterns, often featuring intricate geometric patterns and motifs that are distinct to the Shonai region.
 
It was used for farming in the Tohoku region and Yamagata Prefecture. It has been used and washed repeatedly, so it is soft, and the holes have been reinforced with Sashiko stitching.
