This beautiful indigo-dyed textile was made in the mid 20th century in the Sho-nai area of japan. Sho-nai is now meant around Yamagata prefecture.
It is all hand sewing with Sho-nai sashiko stitching. Sho-nai sashiko is a technique of hand embroidery that can see sho-nai area. Characteristically, there is a lot of stitching on the entire surface.
