This is called a rice bag that used to hold rice, Rice was considered to be as important as money in old Japan.

 

It is made of a patchwork of indigo-dyed hand-weaved ikat (KASURI) textiles and Shibori-dyed silk textiles.

 

The strings attached top has made of hand-weaved hemp fibers.

 

Back side lining is torn. Please use it for ornamental purposes.
