This is a large jointed 5 length sakiori Futonji (bed cover) rug from mid 20th century.
Sakiori is a traditional technic or woven fabric that is produced from scrap fabric (worn-out cloth and garments torn thinly) and then woven tightly into clothing and other products for daily use. Sakiori is typically woven with warps of cotton and wefts of thin worn-out cloth.
This one reinforced back side lining and hem with hand-weaved plaid textiles.
