Hand-knitted snow boots made of straw. The edges are covered with a kasuri cloth, but this cloth is not old.
They are in deadstock condition, never used, and clean. Perhaps made in late20c.
They were made in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku, Japan. Straw has been used for roofing, shoes, and many other things in Japan since ancient times.
