These are old Japanese tabi shoes.
 
Tabi shoes are a product that has been worn in Japan from ancient times to the present day. In the old days, people wore tabi-like socks and then put on straw sandals or wore shoes outside.
 
When the soles of the shoes became sore, they were used while they were repaired with stitches and some other beautiful fragments.
 
The cotton body is decorated with beautiful stitch embroidery. This may be for reinforcement and decoration.
 
These tabi socks also have many holes where damage has been repaired by Sashiko stitching. Please enjoy them for your viewing pleasure.
