It is made of indigo-dyed fabric using the katazome technique.
Katazome is a Japanese technique of stencil-resist dyeing that involves drawing rice-paste designs on cloth, dyeing the fabric, and then washing off the paste.
There are holes in some places, but they have been fixed by hand sewing.
