This textile was made of 4-length hand-woven hemp fibers. It has a thick and rough texture. It was perhaps made in northern-west Japan about over 100 years ago.

It was used as Furoshiki in old times. Furoshiki is a square-shaped Japanese wrapping cloth used for carrying and wrapping items in various creative ways. It's eco-friendly and versatile, often used for gifts, groceries, and personal belongings.

There are Chinese characters written in some parts, but these are the surname of the owner of this cloth.
