This is an antique Japanese patched textile, traditionally known as BORO. It is composed of handwoven cotton pieces that were stitched together and repeatedly repaired over many decades.
　
The fabric was originally used in everyday life, most likely as a futon cover or a large utilitarian cloth. Its layered textures, natural indigo and earthy tones, and the visible mending stitches embody the Japanese spirit of mottainai and reveal the quiet beauty of reuse.
