This katazome textiles were made in Late 1800s to Early 1900s century in japan. 100% cotton, hand loomed, homespun cotton. Decorated Japanese plum blossoms and Japanese folding fun. Repaired sashiko stitching with kasuri textiles. Katazome is a surface design process used for centuries in Japanese textile decoration, especially with cloth destined to become kimonos. For centuries artists used a resist paste from a rice flour mixture and apply this paste to cloth through the use of elaborately hand carved stencils. Wherever the paste is applied will resist the dye, creating a pattern. Traditionally Katazome is paired with indigo to create the iconic white and dark blue of many Japanese textiles. A nice collectors piece, to hang as textile art or use your products. mesures:100cm(39,3")×32cm(12,5")
