Japanese vintage indigo dyed katazome cotton textile.
Katazome is a resist dyeing technique using paper stencils and rice paste before dyeing.
This piece features rounded leaf motifs scattered across a flowing karakusa vine pattern. The repeated curves and organic forms create a dense surface against the deep indigo ground. Fading, slight irregularities, and softened areas from age remain visible throughout the cloth.
The fabric carries traces of long everyday use and handling.
Suitable for wall display, framing, or interior use.
