An indigo dyed katazome cotton textile.
Katazome is a resist dyeing technique in which patterns are created using paper stencils and rice paste resist before dyeing.

This process leaves subtle bleeding and irregular edges in the motifs, visible in this piece.
Round, chrysanthemum-like motifs are combined with karakusa (arabesque) patterns. The spacing between the designs creates a quiet sense of openness, allowing the depth of the indigo to come forward.

Areas of mending and patching remain, showing how the cloth was repaired and reused over time. It is a fragment shaped by everyday life rather than decoration.

Perfect for use as a wall hanging, framed textile, or interior display.
