Japanese vintage silk shibori textile, originally part of a kimono and dyed with safflower.
The cloth is dyed in a warm orange tone, with repeated geometric patterns created through shibori resist techniques.
The bound areas remain undyed, forming soft-edged shapes with visible traces of the binding threads.
Safflower dye, known as beni in Japan, was traditionally used to produce soft pink to red hues. Over time, with light and washing, the color shifts and fades, resulting in this softened orange tone.
The silk has a light, smooth texture, with a subtle sheen that shifts with the light. The pattern shows slight irregularities, reflecting the handwork in the process.
The edges are left simple, with minor fraying visible.
